A couple more gifts

This year for Christmas I got Jason a Bose sound system.  I can't believe how good the sound is that comes from this little thing.  I am happy that now we can get rid of all the speakers, wires and stereo parts around the house.

I got this wonderful set of dishes from my Mother and Father in law.  I love them!  I also got some gift cards from the same store from others so I will get myself the bowls and perhaps the mugs to match.

Christmas Day

We had a great Christmas yesterday.  The morning started a bit later than usual but nonetheless some of us still needed a snooze before beginning the second half of our Christmas at Nana's and Papa's.

My first attempt at using my tripod and remote - my favorite shot of myself all day ;) - I am not one who likes photos of myself.

And what happens when you let your teenager take control of the remote

I think Papa likes the gift that Danica got for him and Nana - he always says that to Nana so the sign was perfect.

Nana likes her new boots

Cianna demonstrates how talented she is

Finally all 4 of us at a family function

Ending the day in the new Onsies - I think I need a pair - I used to wear these all of the time.

New Stuff for Christmas

I got a tripod for my birthday and today I got a remote for my camera so of course I had to play.  Danica is all decked out in her new PJs and me in my new scarf.  It was kind of fun using the remote.

Although I may have gotten a little trigger happy.

And one where I don't look like a turtle.

Breton Brittle

My Breton Brittle maker is busy doing her yearly tradition.

Merry & Bright

I finally have the white light tree that I have wanted forever.  The rest of my family have preferred the mulit colored lights forever... the girls have finally come around and we went out and purchased a pre-lit, white light christmas tree.  Although I do prefer real trees, I am ok with the ease of this one.

The Kitchen is Functional

Our countertops and gas stove top were installed on Friday.  Finally, it is all coming to an end.  We still need backsplash and a new window, but that will be in the New Year.  We finally have a fully functional kitchen to work in.

Jason spent Friday and Saturday doing some plumbing, so we have our dishwasher and instant boiling water all hooked up.

Tonight I finally got a bit of time to use my 'baking center' part of the kitchen and did the first, of my Christmas baking.  Obviously, given the day... I won't be doing much more baking - I have yet to begin my wrapping, oye!  Luckily Jaimee likes to make Breton Brittle and is looking forward to making that tomorrow.

Second night of Concert

Tonight we went to watch Jaimee's band play.  Unfortunately, it is not as easy to get a good picture of Jaimee as she plays the saxophone and is almost hidden.  The bands, as always sounded very good.

Upright Bass Player

So much talent in our school bands.  I always enjoy listening to the kids play.  Tonight was Danica's band concert night.  We knew she played the upright bass (she used to play bass guitar), however, we never really pictured how big it was.  She did a great job!

Tigh-Na-Mara

We had a great dinner at the Tigh-Na-Mara last night and although we didn't get a beach view room this time it was still nice.

How nice to have a little Christmas tree in our room.

Danica's favorite

How Sweet

Danica's boyfriend came for a quick visit yesterday afternoon and he brought her this to help make her feel better.  How sweet is that!

Hot Chocolate for the kiddos

Last night I whipped up 20 of these little packages to hand out to my grade ones on our PJ/ Polar Express day.

I wasn't quite done.  I decided to add a bell to the packages since it is a Polar Express PJ Day in  my classroom.

Jaimee's favorite

Every year Auntie Dionne, Nana and Grandma give the girls ornaments for Christmas.  Every year they talk about each one of them as they put them up on our (non-themed, family) tree.  I love listening to their discussions and memories as they decorate the tree.  This cute little elf boot is Jaimee's favorite ornament.  When Danica feels better I will have to find out which one is hers.

12-12-12

12-12-12 is the date today and I set out to take 12 pictures to document 'a day in my life'.  Well I spent much of my working day in meeting and then at home 2 sick kids - one with pneumomia so not a lot of action was happening.

My new mug - everyone needs a red Christmas mug don't they?  Well I thought so, which is why I bought it for myself.  Besides that, I like a good big heavy mug for my tea.

A new Christmas decoration I purchased at an Antique Shop - I love Santa, especially a vintage one.

Our school had a Jingle Bell Jog - we did our daily run all carrying a bell and jingling as we went.  At the end we had a surprise visit from someone - Santa!

Our school is having a door decorating contest and the criteria is: 10 plain papers, 10 colored papers, 5 recycled items and 3 mystery items.  My grade ones did a lot of brainstorming and came up with many ideas - from 'a sign that says Mrs. Seabrook's class', 'we could have a wreath', 'we could have a snowman' and even 'have Santa in his sleigh'.  We decided to make it a North Pole theme and incorporate all of it!

Love the sign - Mrs. Seabrook's class and the other one says Elf Workshop (the grade ones beside us have created a door full of elves so the sign is pointing to their class).

A 3D tree, a paper plate wreath.

A couple of sick kiddos who both missed school today - Danica missed yesterday too.

I took Danica into the Walk in Clinic and she has pneumonia - poor thing.

Someone wants to go for a run - definitely not getting as many as he is used to with the kitchen reno and 'busyness' of things around here lately.

No stove but we have an oven - tonight frozen pizza for dinner.  I didn't get home with Danica until late and neither of the kids felt like eating.

Someone is quite happy to have people home to snuggle with

The Man Room

No Hockey on TV this year - but always something to watch.

And I finally snuck in my craft room to create something quick.  Looking forward to Christmas break so I can hopefully get our house back in order including my craft room!  Then perhaps the mojo will return!
