The Renos start

Well so much for the peace and quiet I had for a few days.  Yep that is my car parked across the road.  Limited parking around here for a few days.  We are getting our roof redone.  It is actually kind of exciting though, because next on the agenda is the kitchen!

Smoothies...

the dinner of champions. Well maybe not a dinner for a champion, but it is a good dinner for me when I am home alone and have no one to cook for.

Tigh-Na-Mara

Jason and I went out for dinner at the Tigh-Na-Mara last night then stayed over night.  We had a great view from our room.

A bit of wine to end the evening

I always get up early so since we were on the East Coast of the Island I got to see a sunrise... well almost - it came up right behind the only trees in front of our deck...
I was also kind of happy to see some Red Rose tea included, it is usually some sort of flavored tea or other kind.

New camera

Man do I ever LOVE my new camera, all as I can say is wow!  I was playing around with it, then got Danica to take some photos for me too.  Now I actually forgot to change the lens (this one is more for indoors) but I put it on Auto for Danica and the pictures turned out pretty good... except for the wrinkly subject ;)

Cheated today

I cheated a bit today for my photo of the day, I took this off the Nikon site... this is my new toy!  Thank you to Jason for the awesome anniversary gift!

Camping weekend

We went camping this past weekend on our annual 'River Camp' and the weather was not the greatest for the first couple of days so not a lot of action going on around the campsite.  Then when it was nice, the kids kind of disappeared and did not really want any photos taken so I just wandered around taking 'camping' photos ;)

The row of trailers where we usually are - we camp here every year and it is a lot of fun.

This year we were the last ones to arrive and this prime spot was not taken yet so we got the riverside!  Yay us!

Someone enjoys hanging out at the screen door

Someone taking in the peacefulness of the river

This is taken from the communal fire pit out onto the river.

Normally, when the weather is hot these seats are all taken and then some.  Everyone sits in the shallow water so that their feet are dangling in.

A bit of fishing in the evening.

Thrifting Finds

Just some thrift shop items I picked up today.  I love the board and that little cast iron iron, believe me it is heavy.  The box you see is a garage sale find I picked up a few years back, I originally had painted it black, but this summer redid it and now I really like it.  I use it to put the little things I find in the wash.

Turning 70

My mom is turning 70 in a couple of days.  My brother and his kids were in town so we had everyone here for dinner.  I think this is such a great photo of my mom and all of her grandkids.

And one of my parents with the grandkids.

Red Rose tea

We have been away on holidays a lot this summer and although it has been a lot of fun, I am a homebody and I do miss my at home puttering time.  Another thing I miss is my good old Red Rose tea.  So often when we are away, it is hard for me to get just a regular cup of tea or if they do have it, it is not Red Rose.  I am not one for flavored tea so I usually end up getting Earl Grey.  First thing I usually do when we get home is make myself some tea...Red Rose of course.

A Great Family Reuniion

We had a great weekend in Vancouver meeting up with Jason's family.  Almost everyone was able to make it to Terry's house (how awesome that she had everyone over for 3 days!) and hang out from morning until night.  Lots of games, fun and laughter.  We need to get together more than every 12 years or so!

...and now the pie filling

It was a long day of cherry pitting yesterday.  It is all worth it though.  I now have lots of cherries frozen for smoothies, some canned as cherry pie filling and we had a cherry crisp last night.  I pitted over 60 cups of cherries... and here are some of the results.

My herb box

I took a plain $2 garage sale planter and with a bit of time, some old household paint, even a bit of bashing with a hammer and ended up with this.  I love it.  Too late really to use for herbs this year but it will be perfect for next year out on our deck... or not - I may want to find a nice use for it in the house.  I do love it.
