...and now the pie filling

It was a long day of cherry pitting yesterday.  It is all worth it though.  I now have lots of cherries frozen for smoothies, some canned as cherry pie filling and we had a cherry crisp last night.  I pitted over 60 cups of cherries... and here are some of the results.

Yum! I love cherries, but would never have enough to even get one jar full. You've answered my long-held question as to why anyone would want a cherry-pitter (I don't need one for the handful of cherries I eat each year, LOL!) I wish I lived in a cherry growing region so that I could grow my own tree. :-)
